Dining out and not knowing what wine selection to make can be a very stressful decision. To help alleviate some of this pressure, we will be working with restaurants in the area to develop a program that will allow you to try a glass of wine without buying the whole bottle. New York wines in OttawaBeing the capital of a highly diverse nation and located on the border of Quebec means that there is one thing Ottawa really knows about – great food. We were recently in town for a lovely dinner at a little place called the Pelican Grill and the food was superb – and it matched wonderfully with our New York wines. The soup was poached oysters in a fish-miso stock paired with a Dr. Konstantin Frank Dry Riesling; next came a smoked trout “brandade” which worked beautifully with a Fox Run Vineyards Reserve chardonnay that was showing great smoky flavors. The main course of cedar-planked salmon with roasted winter vegetables and saffron rice suited the Lakewood Pinot Noir perfectly and the Baldwin Strawberry wine with the chocolate mousse and strawberry coulis pleased everyone.
