The Foundation team and I started 2018 determined to serve the grape and wine industry with the best possible service, responsiveness, and transparency. We partnered with the law firm Bond, Shoenick, and King to host seminars in Syracuse and Riverhead on legal topics relevant to the industry. We hosted webinars with our other business associate members to present on issues related to human resources, accounting, and new marketing methods. We also implemented differential pricing rates for our programs and services, so Foundation members receive additional value for their annual support. In every conceivable way, we are elevating our membership experience and our reputation for being the go-to resource for the New York grape and wine industry.
 
Last week, we partnered with the law firm Seyfarth Shaw to host an educational webinar on the issue of website compliance with ADA Title III. This is an important issue that every business should take seriously and take appropriate steps to ensure their website complies. Seyfarth Shaw’s presentation will be available to any Foundation Member who was not able to attend the webinar. If you'd like to become a member, join here. We have also prepared a form letter that can be sent to your US Congressional representatives to bring their attention to the growing number of lawsuits in New York State related to website compliance with ADA Title III. Please contact me to request a copy of the letter.
 
Looking into the future, our team at NYWGF is excited for 2019 and adding to the momentum that we created through the Strategic Planning process in 2018 and our refreshed focused on programming.  Membership renewal will be kicking off this month, so pay attention to your snail mail boxes and email inboxes for renewal letters. We intend to continue finding ways to receive your feedback and use it to improve the organization. We plan to build more strategic partnerships with our business associate members to offer our winery and grower members more educational resources, and perhaps even some discounted services or group purchasing. 
 
We are fortunate to receive an annual budget appropriation from the State of New York. Your support as a dues paying member, from grape grower to consumer, demonstrates to the State that the industry and oenophiles value the State’s investment through the Foundation to support valued research, extension, and marketing. Thank you for your ongoing support of our work and look out for more exciting membership benefits in 2019!
