The Press Deck - 8/28/2019 | Field Notes: Wine Enthusiast 40 Under 40 Tastemakers of 2019

Field Notes...

From Valerie Ross, Director of Programs & Marketing

Good Morning Friends,
I can safely say that last week was one of, if not the most, exciting week in my tenure here at the New York Wine & Grape Foundation.
As you likely have seen by now, last week we launched a new brand , two of our colleagues were named to the Wine Enthusiast Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers list , and the Finger Lakes won, for the second year in a row,  Best Wine Region in the 2019 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Poll. The good news just kept on coming. It was a rare week and likely not one that we will soon forget.
Long before I started in my role at NYWGF, I was an avid reader of the Press Deck (and the iterations that came before). I would wait eagerly every week for the email with Jim Tresize’s list of award-winning New York wines. That email was one of the inspirations that set me on my path to learn more and ultimately become passionate about the wines of New York State. I know the long history, quality, and diversity of our regions and am proud to be part of the team honoring our past and creating a bright, bold vision of the future. It’s a bit of a dream come true for me, frankly. I hope that this version of the Press Deck inspires someone else to go out there, learn all they can about New York wine, and create their own wine journey.
As a part of the team planning our shift to the new Boldly, NY. branding, I can say that we all recognize that there will be many steps in the process. We also know that you will be taking those steps along with us - changing websites, updating printed materials, displays and much more. All of this will be an investment of time and resources. Our staff is working hard to create guidelines for you, as well as a resource kit complete with various logos and images that you can use to co-brand your materials with Boldly, NY. For our wine trail partners in particular, we anticipate holding an online session to present this material and answer your questions. For our winery, grower, and business associate members, we anticipate providing you with the necessary materials to proudly display your membership and your support of the wine and grape community in our state.
We’ve heard some great feedback from many of you, but we know that questions still remain. Please feel free to check out our FAQs about the new brand. If you have further questions, please email us and we’ll incorporate your questions into the document so everyone can share in the answer.
We look forward to taking our next steps Boldly, Together.
