(Wine Press 10/1/16) One of the newest wineries in America's oldest wine region made an impressive showing in the recent Hudson Valley Wine & Spirits Competition sponsored by the Hudson Valley Wine & Grape Association at the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Festival.

Fjord Vineyards, located in Marlboro, was Winery of the Year, and also took Best of Show, Best White Wine, and Best Overall Hudson Valley Wine with its 2015 Albarino. (It's great that they're growing Albarino in the Hudson Valley...who knew?)

Other Best of Category awards went to Brotherhood Winery "B" Sparkling Rose; Robibero Family Vineyards 2013 Cabernet Franc; Clinton Vineyards 2015 Rose; Christopher Jacobs Winery Appleoosa; Millbrook Vineyards & Winery Late Harvest Riesling; Brotherhood Winery Rebel Reserve (Cider); and Dennings Point Distillery Beacon Bourbon.

Site of the country's oldest vineyard (Benmarl) and winery (Brotherhood), the Hudson River Region has a long and distinguished history in the American wine industry, and more recently as a hotbed for growth of cideries, distilleries, and breweries. It's also a very beautiful region to visit, especially at this time of year.
