Now in its 9th year, NY Drinks NY celebrates the exciting world of New York wines on the NYC wine industry scene and beyond. This year, NY Drinks NY will begin with our annual July Vineyard visit to the Finger Lakes for trade and media and will include a day of activity at FLXcursion: our state’s first international riesling conference. Subsequent trade visits to Long Island and the Hudson Valley will ensue, as well as educational events, wine dinners, lunches, wine-bar take-overs, and more throughout the year, promoted in conjunction with our publicists at THINK PR. And of course, the year will conclude with our Grand Tasting in New York City, once again scheduled to be at the iconic Rainbow Room in Manhattan, on March 31st.

NY DRINKS NY GRAND TASTING
Held each year in March, The Grand Tasting assembles a “delegation” of participating vintners from across the state that will come to Manhattan; including almost 30 participating wineries from the Finger Lakes. This signature event is held at the iconic Rainbow Room in Manhattan, and consists of a four-hour afternoon session for the trade and media, followed by a two-hour evening session for consumers. A key aspect of the Grand Tasting will also be a focus on Finger Lakes foods with the help of Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty and local chefs and suppliers from the area.

The Cellar/Vineyard Visits combine actual tastings at the wineries, special luncheons and dinners to highlight the “wine country cuisine” and other agricultural products of the region, and other activities which showcase the special attributes of our viticulture regions. These tours have improved tremendously based on years of feedback, and there is still a sizable population of the of the fine wine trade from New York City and other crucially important markets who are anxious to become fluent with the wines of New York. Visits to the region creates proverbial on-the ground ambassadors in NYC and elsewhere.
FINGER LAKES HARVEST HOUSE
In this phase, approximately 14 trade and media attendees are invited for a week's stay in the Finger Lakes, wherein residents will spend a portion of their time observing harvest in-person at multiple Finger Lakes wineries. Additionally, Harvest House sources local food ingredients from a wide range of Finger Lakes-area farms and purveyors, exposing their agricultural products to the NYC visitors. The Harvest House element of the NY Drinks NY program is not only a memorable experience for the trade and media involved, but is also a unique media opportunity for the wineries and purveyors that participate. It is an effort to build closer relationships between trade and wineries, emphasizing one-on-one time, while organically creating more “Brand Ambassadors” to exist on the ground in NYC and elsewhere, marketing for more awareness and sales for Finger Lakes wines.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS FOR WINE EDUCATION & AWARENESS
Continuing the successful growth and permeation of New York wines in the NYC market, we work with organizations that famously hold wine and culinary education events as well as establishments who have shown dedication and desire to present NY wines. Many past participants in other phases have integrated NY wines into their programming, and we want to continue to reinforce this trend with more structured and strategic collaborations for logical growth.
TRADE & MEDIA DEVELOPMENT
To continue to build the relationships with trade and media that have participated in the program, we will feature ongoing tastings, dinners, lunches, and more, inviting NY Drinks NY trade and media who are past program participants, as well as those in the trade who have not yet been immersed in any of the NYDNY tours. As we continue to develop programming to enhance the NY Drinks NY initiative in NYC, the reputation of the wines and events spread, and we’re often then contacted by new and interested venues, thereby recruiting even more new industry professionals into the program.

Cost for participation vary by region:
- Finger Lakes Region: $2,400
- Hudson Valley Region: $2,000
- Long Island: $2,100
- Regions which do not receive Vineyard Visits: $1,100
*Non-Members pay an additional $200 per winery.
OPTIONAL PROGRAM OFFERINGS
Want to execute a wine dinner or lunch in NYC with some of your neighboring wineries? Our Brand Ambassador will do the legwork and represent and present your wines at a dinner with up to 20 trade or consumers (minimum 10 wineries per event). Also new this year, our Brand Ambassador will reserve four days of market work during the Phase 9 campaign and will set up a full day of six appointments with key accounts to show one wine each for up to six participating wineries.
