“NY Drinks NY” is a multi-pronged program that aims to promote the quality and diversity of New York wines (and other agricultural products) in the vital New York City market. The program focuses on bringing New York City media and trade to the various wine regions and familiarizing consumers in the NYC market with New York wines. Since its inception in 2011, “NY Drinks NY” has had a major impact on New York wine sales in New York City. In addition, the program has created long-term relationships which ensure further growth in the future. Current initiatives can be found below.
Vineyard and Cellar Visits & Harvest House
One of the core initiatives to this program includes engaging trade and media in Vineyard and Cellar Visits and a Harvest House where This initiative focuses on immersing trade and media directly in the wine regions. Wineries have the ability to form lasting relationships with the attendees who get a get a first-hand take on how the wines are made. Once the trade and media visit the regions, they become enthusiastic ambassadors who are well respected by their peers.
NY Drinks NY Grand Tasting in New York City
Bring the wine to the people! The Grand Tasting includes an intimate tasting in New York City designed to attract top trade and media followed by a larger tasting for consumers. This event will take place on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Altman Building (135 W 18th St, New York, NY). Please visit www.nydrinksny.com for more information.
Strategic Partnerships for Wine Education
This initiative focuses on creating strategic partnerships with organizations to integrate or increase incorporation of New York wines into their educational programming. In addition, this initiative provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with educational partners to create content for consumers and for winemakers to be guest speakers at the events. We are currently working with the Astor Center, Corkbuzz Wine Studio, De Gustibus Cooking School, and Murray’s Cheese.
Social Media and Sample Campaign
An ongoing social media campaign including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram promoting New York wines. The sample campaign focuses on familiarizing top social media influencers who have the attention of thousands of food and beverage aficionados in the New York City market with New York wines.
Cost for participation vary by region:
- Finger Lakes Region: $2,300
- Hudson Valley & Long Island: $2,000
- Regions which do not receive Vineyard Visits: $1,100
*Non-Members pay an additional $150 per winery.
